“Twenty minutes of sweet, followed by a robust climatic finish, have made Blondie the most wanted cigar in the nation.”
Size: 3” x 38
Style: Short Panatela
Initial Impression— Neat little pig tail on the cap, shorter stick than I’m used to smoking. I see ACID everywhere, so I thought I’d try one for once.
Appearance—Nice smooth, dry light brown wrapper of a cigar. I found the construction to be well made, slightly soft, but better than a hard dried out cigar. I clipped the cap with ease and was ready to light up!
Lighting/Burning/Ash— Lighting was a breeze, that’s the nice thing about such a small ring gauge of a cigar. I noted that the burn rate from beginning to end was consistent, perfectly paced so it didn’t burn too fast, nor too slow. I was happy that not once did I have to re-light the smoke, so that attests to the roller’s quality of work. The ash was a nice solid white which fell off only when I chose for it to do so.
Consistency/Draw—Great draw, just how a cigar should be smoked. I have no problems when puffing on it, which meant it was neither rolled too tightly nor to loose. I also found the flavor of the tobacco to stay even from the first puff to the last puff.
Maintenance/Flavor— There was little maintenance required on this smoke and that gets great ratings in my book. That said, this cigar is so syrupy sweet it’s just intolerable. I only smoked half the cigar because the flavor of the wrapper was so sweet it just made for a horrible smoke.
Reflection & Rating
I wanted to try this cigar because a friend of mine smoked one at a recent cigar night and I thought the smoke was incredibly aromatic. I researched Puff.com’s iPhone/iPod app. to learn more about the cigar. I found that the Blondie was the most popular of the ACID brand so I thought I’d give it a try. Now, in fairness to this Blondie cigar, my friend did inform me that it had a sweetness to it, but I didn’t think it was going to be like puffing on a Fun-Dip candy stick.
I knew this was going to be troublesome when I initially put the cigar to my mouth to light it and had to pull it away because of how terribly sweet it was to my lips. This smoke would be more appropriate for a fat kid, 12 year old in need of a candy fix! It’s not a real cigar! I would have been better of smoking a Swisher Sweet. The one nice thing I can say about this cigar is the smoke which comes from the cigar either when smoking it or in its resting position does smell fantastic!
For that reason, I would rate this smoke as a D
