I have stayed and especially played downtown many times. Golden Gate is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, continuously operating casino in Vegas. (It was issued the city’s first phone number when it was just a hotel). Until a couple years ago, they had a great 99-cent shrimp cocktail from the deli in the back. They also had a woman playing soft piano.

Now they have go-go girls in the pits and have made the blackjack less favorable. Not impressed, although the dancing women are attractive.

I have stayed at the Plaza within the past year. They bought the furnishings from the Fountainbleu that was stopped half-done. Great rooms and very cheap.

When you were in Main St. Station, did you have any of their micro brews? They are better than the Four Queens’, and made on site. If you are not gambling, they are around $1.50/pint from the VP bar in the back 24-7. Love the Black Chip Porter and the pale ale is good, too.

Good point, Mike. Although I do NOT remember beautiful go-go girls. I’m going to have to go back to look. And look. And look some more, hahaha.

I don’t recall having had any of the MSS microbrews. As I recall, we had passed through on a quick visit after having engorged ourselves at Oscars. But now you’ve given me an assignment for VIMFP. Good work, sir, and keep it coming. 🙂
