I disagree with your assessment regarding the use of Bics or other soft-flame butane lighters (I am a big fan of Djeep disposables. A nice size and good flame adjustment).

While I have plenty of torch lighters, soft flames are more forgiving. You’re less likely to burn it or set the wrapper on fire. And butane is odorless. There’s no worry about imparting fuel flavors, unlike Zippo-style flame lighters.

I always travel with Scripto, Bic or Djeep disposables.

Eh. I’ve always had bad luck with the soft-flame butanes. Mostly impatience, I guess, but I usually scorch the wrapper worse trying to get it lit, than with my trusty Xicar dual-jet torch. #YourMileageMayVary.
I do love my classic Zippo, but it’s relegated solely as the primary lighter on hiking trips. The windscreen really does work. 🙂
