RE: Tony’s traveling tips… I travel out of DTW pretty frequently. I use skycaps when the indoor lines are too long, which is only occasionally. I try to only have a carry on much of the time, which negates the need for a skycap.

I haven’t felt the need to buy precheck, at least at DTW. Like Jason, I have only had a few exceptionally long security lines at Detroit. Precheck doesn’t guarantee the line will be open, either. I saw a bunch of PO’d precheck people at PHX yelling, “We’re precheck!” while they waited for 1 TSA agent to clear everyone.

Another tip: Walk over to the Westin to use its dedicated TSA line. It rarely has a wait. It is open limited hours, however.
